When a pastor and his wife decide to adopt a severely handicapped boy, the lives of many are impacted by God’s love and a child’s smile.
When Pastor John Mollitt read in a newspaper that a four-week-old boy had been taken into hospital, he somehow knew that this baby boy would be the next foster child that he and his wife Pat would care for. Aaron arrived for a year of fostering, the beginning of a process that eventually led to his adoption.
Despite his complex medical needs and the doctors saying he would probably not reach the age of 10, Aaron lived life to the full for 28 years, bringing joy, hope and inspiration to those around him. He went to a special school from the ages of 4 to 18, enjoyed a tailored programme based on the National Curriculum and even met royalty.
This is a story of God’s love expressed in the life of a family, and how their commitment to one another enabled them to overcome great challenges.

About the Author
John Mollitt
Pastor
John was born in Lancashire, in the Lune Valley and Pat in a Scottish coal mining village, in Lanarkshire. They met in Morecambe, when John went to speak at the church Pat was attending. They married in 1972 and their children, Andrew and Joanna were born in 1973 and 1976. Three years later, John was appointed pastor of Ingleton Evangelical Church and they became foster parents in 1985. After two short term fostering placements, Aaron came to John and Pat in November 1987 and was adopted by them in 2004. Until his death in 2016, Aaron was a much-loved member of the Mollitt family and treasured by many in Ingleton and the surrounding area. Andrew is married to Sarah and with his three children, lives in Singapore, whilst Joanna lives in West Yorkshire with husband, Alan and their two children. John and Pat still live in Ingleton, where John continues with an itinerant ministry and Pat keeps busy, card making and holding craft sessions for children in churches and community centres.
