About the Author

Gill Silver was born into a nominally Jewish home, with a father who had left his orthodox Jewish roots for radical communism and a mother who enquired into most religions except for Christianity but found no satisfaction in any.
Leaving school at sixteen, she first trained as a Nursery Nurse in a Dr Barnardo Home, followed by General nurses’ training; Midwifery; Bible College and finally teacher’s training. This led to teaching at an independent girls’ school in north London, teaching Religious Studies and establishing a Child Care and Development Course; followed by tutoring posts in Further Education to student nursery nurses till her retirement, all of which she loved.
It was in her late teens that she was first really challenged about biblical truths in Scripture, but it took seven years before she began to understand the serious implications of living ‘the normal Christian life’ and the life-changing consequences of being brought into true ‘new birth’. To have been brought into the life of the Christian Fellowships has been something for which she will be eternally grateful; realising that without knowing the reality of receiving a new heart and new spirit, living the Christian life would be an impossibility!

Here’s a delightful narrative, recorded in testimony after testimony, of the grace and power of the Lord Jesus to transform individuals and create living fellowships of His people. The movement’s humble beginnings in my hometown of Liverpool (and just a few roads away from where I grew up!), and then to the nations, is a remarkable work of God indeed. If one of the marks of a good book is that it does you good, well, that’s been my experience as I have read these pages. May it quicken your spirit too for more of the Lord and His ways in His Church in His world!
