Reading, writing and the English language have always been a passion for Salema and so she trained to teach English as a Foreign Language and went to work in Beirut. She started off teaching adults at a language centre and then ended up at a school on the grounds of a Christian orphanage.
On returning to England she took a crime-writing course and began to write. She had her first two 1930s inspired whodunit books published by Pneuma Springs under the name of Salema Nazzal, and self-published the third under Cornick Publishing. This was followed by an illustrated ‘A – Z of Spiritual Truths for Girls’ book which came about as part of a course she was doing with the College of Media and Publishing in Chichester.
Living in Surrey, Salema spends her time with her wonderful children and cats (not necessarily in that order!), and writes whenever she can.

Sonya Vine is an artist best known for her atmospheric paintings of strong light, silhouettes and glimpses of everyday life. ‘Drawn from the Well’ is her first stride into book illustration and brings together her love of drawing people along with a lifelong passion for doodling.
