Rugby League Coach Jamie Jones-Buchanan praises exciting new children’s novel

Jamie Jones-Buchanan says book encourages young readers to invite Jesus into their lives.

Leeds Rhinos Rugby Club coach, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, has shared his thoughts on the latest new children’s novel by author Anita French. Jack and the Ultimate Dare is an adventure for children aged 10-12, in which Jack is offered the opportunity to join a gang of older boys if he can prove his worth. But as his attempts fail, he finds himself dependent on help from his enemy. Jamie enthuses:

“This book is a reminder that having a place of high social standing or living a life of moral legalism will never be enough. Only through the teachings of Christ and faith in Him, do we understand what true love and redemption looks like. Jack and the Ultimate Dare captures a parable from Jesus in a contemporary way that – God willing – will encourage others to think about inviting Jesus into their own lives.”

About the Book

An adventure novel for children aged 10-12, based on the parable of the Good Samaritan.

Jack Hart and his gang, The Reds, are the most feared boys in his year group. Breaking the school rules, shoplifting and bullying weaker students, Jack enjoys the feeling of power and is popular with many of the girls. Then one day he is invited to join a criminal gang, consisting of older lads who dropped out of school, if he is able to complete the ultimate dare. Jack and The Reds hatch a plan, whilst trying to avoid the ever-watchful eyes of the local police officer, PC Thomas, and of course their arch enemy – Old Man Sam.
