About the Author
Judith Purkiss
Judith Purkiss lives and works in a London secondary school, where she is the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), a teacher working with children who have complex additional learning needs.
Judith studied languages and has always loved the power of words – spoken or written – to inspire, motivate and transform. As a writer, Judith has been on a journey. Her first book, Words of Encouragement, was a labour of love – about two years in the making. The book started out as a blog and grew into a collection of daily devotional readings. It is all about encouraging those who encourage and support others; there are people who help others but have nowhere to turn themselves when they are in need.
‘Inspiring Women of the Bible’ grew from Words of Encouragement. This new book seeks to recognise the unsung heroines, the familiar and not so familiar women who are featured in the Bible. These are older women, poor women, outcasts, foreign women, women with dubious reputations; yet they all had in common that their eyes were on the Lord. Judith hopes that you will be able to find yourself in these pen portraits, and that you will draw strength from their courage in the face of adversity. Be encouraged, be blessed – but above all, be inspired in your walk with God.
