Methodist Recorder is ‘enthralled and inspired’ by Rob Cotton’s book

"When the ordinary becomes extraordinary."

The Rev Dr Adrian Burton, superintendent minister of the Shaw and Royton Methodist circuit, has written an excellent review of Rob Cotton’s Hope in the Main Street, published in the Methodist Recorder.

He begins by noting that,

“Rob is known for his passion to enable churches to engage with their community in order to bring a sense of hope to the world beyond the church walls.”

After summarizing the book and its endorsements, he comments,

“It is hard to read this book without being enthralled and inspired. … What Rob does for us though is to show what is possible in [ordinary churches] when the extraordinary Spirit of God gets a grip of us and fills us with a passion to proclaim the Gospel of hope. As we read Rob’s book it seems that no momentary or fleeting encounter is too small or insignificant to become a moment of Spirit-filled encounter.”

In conclusion, Rev. Burton urges us to,

“Get a copy of this book. Read it. Talk about it. Pray about it. Be inspired. And then go out and do it.”
