New poetry book inspires incredible painting commission
A poem from Linda Deruvala's new book 'Selah' has been beautifully translated into a painting by talented artist Sian Tezel
Rev Lisa Holmes has commissioned a painting by gifted artist, Sian Tezel. The artwork is based on the text of Diamonds on the Sole of His Shoes, a poem from Linda Daruvala’s recently published book, Selah.
The painting now hangs in the church of St Mary the Virgin in Charlton-on-Otmoor, with the words of the poem placed alongside. Postcards have also been produced to replicate and share the beautiful, thought provoking imagery.
Diamonds on the Soles of His Shoes
Jesus passed this way today:
The frosted ground sprinkled with iridescent diamonds,
Sparkling rainbow drops suspended from each grass blade,
Scattering of Swarovski crystals abound.
Sunbeams become spotlights on ethereal colours,
Tiny lights of azure, amber, jade and topaz –
Just frozen water droplets in the presence of the Light…
Such beauty that captivates our eyes.
Yes, Jesus walked through this garden today
And as He journeyed,
Diamonds dropped from the soles of His shoes
And left imprints to delight, fascinate and still us.
Just to let us know
That He, God, passed this way
And He leaves His gift to us.
