About the Book

The remarkable story of the House Fellowship Movement, as it emerged and spread from the backstreets of Liverpool throughout the UK and now reaching out to over seventy- six nations of the world – an outworking of a vision that the Lord gave to Norman Meeten in the early ’60s.

An Anglican curate was brought to a place of desperation. He was aware that he didn’t have the answers to the major spiritual needs that surrounded him. Wonderfully, God revealed to him the true implications of Galatians 2:20.

“He didn’t expect me to live for Him; He was wanting to live His life in me and live His life out through me.” – Norman Meeten

A New Song is packed with captivating testimonies of unique individuals whose lives were impacted by God through the ministry of men such as Mr G.W. North, Norman Meeten and Dave Wetherly. Witness the incredible faithfulness of God over those who have walked in step with the direction, power and authority of the Holy Spirit.

This book traces the origins and development of the House Fellowship movement, as it spontaneously emerged in the middle of the twentieth century, starting in the backstreets of Liverpool and spreading throughout the United Kingdom. A prophetic vision was outworked as lives were transformed, eventually reaching out to well over seventy nations around the globe.

ABOUT GILL SILVER

Gill Silver was born into a nominally Jewish home, with a father who had left his orthodox Jewish routes for radical communism and a mother who enquired into most religions except for Christianity but found no satisfaction in any.

Leaving a girls’ public school at sixteen, she first trained privately as a Nursery Nurse in a Dr Barnardo Home, followed by General nurses’ training; Midwifery; Bible College and finally teacher’s training at secondary level. This led to being accepted to teach at secondary level in an independent girls’ school in north London, teaching Religious Studies and establishing a Child Care and Development Course; followed by tutoring posts in Further Education to student Nursery Nurses till her retirement, all of which she loved.

It was in her late teens that she was first really challenged about biblical truths in Scripture, but it took a further seven years before she began to understand the serious implications of living ‘the normal Christian life’ and the life-changing consequences of being brought into true ‘new birth’. There have been many ongoing trials and not a few challenges, but through it all, she has known His abundant grace and long-suffering patience in slowly being conformed to all that He has purposed. To have been brought into the life of the Christian Fellowships, many of which are mentioned in this book, along with personal testimonies, has been something for which she will be eternally grateful; realising that without knowing the reality of receiving a new heart and new spirit, living the Christian life would be an impossibility!
