The Outskirts of His Glory

The Outskirts of His Glory

Surprising places in God’s creation that reveal who he is

Join Anna Jensen and her family as they travel to seek out and experience the odd and unexpected of God’s creation. Often taking the less beaten paths, they encounter an elephant raised by a herd of buffalo, a community of birds in nests two metres high, a coffee tree growing where it should not exist, and much more.
In each place, Anna senses the still, small voice of God, revealing aspects of his glory and character which challenge and equip us. As well as a photograph of each place visited, every story comes with a scripture for meditation, a poem for reflection and a prayer for application.
As you journey with Anna, you will be inspired to slow down, stop and listen to the whispers of the Spirit as he speaks to you too through the natural world.

…A book to gladden the soul.

About the Author

Anna Jensen

Anna Jensen

Anna is a British ex-pat who moved to South Africa over twenty years ago, along with her husband, Craig. They now live with their two children just north of Durban in a small coastal village. From 2008 to 2017, Craig and Anna were the Lead Couple in the local church where they had previously been on eldership for several years. Anna has spent many happy hours in an off-road four-by-four with her family, exploring the beauty of her adopted country and a few of its neighbours. It was after one such trip, to Zimbabwe, that Anna felt the call to ‘write what you see in a book’…

In our 24/7 always-connected world it seems rare for someone to slow down enough to see things around them that speak of God’s wonder. Anna is such an exception. This book helps us to see what is often right in front of us but we’ve missed in our hurry. Dallas Willard apparently once said that in order to grow in one’s spirituality “[y]ou must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life, for hurry is the great enemy of spiritual life in our world today”. Reading this will help you slow down and see the glory of God which in turn will cause you to worship, and no one ever stays the same when they worship. Use this book to wonder, worship and wait on God and you will find change takes place within you. Well done, Anna; this is a gift to those who read it.

Anna Jenson has produced a very original and delightful collection of some two dozen helpful and varied meditations. The format is very appealing; each meditation has a striking and relevant photograph, an interesting and informative travelogue of some part of Africa from which she draws out her varied spiritual lessons, an original and intriguing piece of poetry and a helpful prayer. It is all beautifully written, but the real joy in is the way she makes you feel the depth of her own eager perception of God in nature. It is infectious and makes you want to follow her lead. An excellent present.
