Week of events across the UK to celebrate Libraries Week 2018

It’s libraries week! To celebrate, much-loved libraries across the UK are running events with a focus on wellbeing, with hopes of showcasing how they bring communities together, combat loneliness, provide a space for reading and creativity and support people with their mental health.

Libraries are committed to making information and learning resources available to everyone, for free. We love the heart behind their mission and want to celebrate with them this week.

Locally, the Exeter Library has been running activities throughout the week, including a coffee morning, special film showings,  an author event, and so much more.

Ciara Eastell, Chief Executive of Libraries Unlimited, commented, ‘Everywhere I go in Devon, I see library staff committed to delivering the mission and purposes of our organisation… if you visit our libraries across the county, you’ll see libraries-large and small, urban and rural- responding proactively to the needs of the local communities…’.
