Author
Julie Shimizu has been the minister of Life Community Baptist Church for the past twenty years.
She was born in Middlesex to Pat and Jack Bradshaw and had one older sister Linda. She went to Haywards Heath Grammar School and Sixth Form College, then on to London, training to teach English as a foreign language.
When she was twenty she went to Japan and taught in a language school and also several Japanese students at home many whom she is still in contact with today. She married and had two sons, Sachio and Masayuki. It was in Japan that she really found her faith.
After thirteen years, and many years of difficulty, Julie and her two sons began a new life in England. She trained for the Baptist ministry at Spurgeon’s College, London, studying theology and church planting, and then began her ministry in Horsham.
Julie has a passion for mission and has often travelled overseas, including many times to Kenya and Moldova together with teams from her church.
She initiated a Rural Pastors Training Ministry in Siaya, Kenya for those pastors who lead churches but have had no formal training. She sends out notes and teaches regularly through their mobile phones, which are duly amplified for the benefit of the rural pastors and other bush congregations!
Julie knows that the transforming power of Jesus completely changed her life, and her deepest desire is that others know that too.
